I was driving home from a family vacation recently, when a sudden thunder storm struck and drenched the roads. Being the safe driver that I am, I instantly reduced my speed due to reduced visibility and set my cruise control accordingly, because I know slow driving on highways can be just as dangerous as speeding. Traffic was light as I drove north on I-985 until just past Oakwood, where I encountered an unusual amount of traffic. At that same time, an electric flash of lightning instantly cracked with thunder, bringing a crescendo of rain along with it. As traffic tightened and my anxiety ratcheted up, I feel uncertainty in my tires. A slight slip was noticeable when I abruptly applied the brakes, sending my heart racing. The thought that I needed to replace my tires prior to the trip consumed my every thought, and I know I will schedule a service appointment to have them replaced immediately when I get home.
